PROFILE ACIPF- AFRICA/ AFGPI

African Children's International Peace Forum (ACIPF-AFRICA) and the Ambassadors for Global Peace International (AFGPI) are Youth- Led Non Governmental, International Humanitarian/Voluntary Organizations aimed at sensitizing the World, especially African communities on the plight of women and children living in war torn countries and the importance of global peace for children and young people so as to live in a peaceful, productive and sustainable environment in the 21st century.

AFGPI is a subsidiary of ACIPF-AFRICA as an International Humanitarian Response Agency for young people dedicating their time and services in helping people suffering in war torn countries and conveying releif materials to refugee camps and surrogated home thereby contributing positively to the welfare and wellbeing of children and young people so as to live in a peaceful, productive, and sustainable environment in the 21st century.

It's focus is on the tragic effects of wars on the growing child and the ematicipation of children from the scourges of wars and conflict so as to live in a peaceful ,productive and sustainable environment

ACIPF-AFRICA /AFGPI were established and conceptualized by African (Nigerian) Children in 1998 who believed that they are the future leaders and custodians of the earth and should come together for the following reasons.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
1.Organzing programmes on the Fundamental Rights of Children.
2.Organizing programmes on the Importance of Global Peace for Children in the 21st century.
3.Recruting young people as Peer Educators for enlightenment programmes that will positively benefit children in certain areas affecting children in all spheres of life.
4.Creating a Global Network through which child welfare can be enhanced.
5.Providing and Conveying relief materials to refugee camps in collaboration with the UN, ICRC, UNICEF, and other international Humanitarian Organizations.

OUR MISSION
To empower young people with information and skills that will help them make responsible decisions about their future as leaders of tomorrow and custodians to the earth. Creating a global network for young people through whom they can have access to information sharing, education, communication, training and advocating for policy change on all issues affecting children and young people. if we join hands together, we can make this world a better place and create a peaceful and productive world for future leaders in the 21st century

WHO WE ARE

Founded in 1999 by African Nigerian children and youths,The organization was established with the aim of providing assistance to children who has been abused and deprived of their fundamental human right as humans beings and as Humanitarian Volunteers, provide adequate Humanitarian Aids to refugee camps and homes in collaboration with the ICRC, the UN and other international humanitarian organization.

Our aim is to sensitize world countries and African communities on the importance of Global Peace for children and young people in the 21st century as well as the menace of child abuse and neglect,the violations of children's right ,the plight of women and children living in refugee camps and the tragic effects of wars on the growing child so as to create a peaceful, productive and sustainable environment in the 21st century and a World Fit for Children.

OUR GOAL FOR CHILDREN

To bring together children with the same dream of living in a world free from all forms of conflicts and discrimination.

Assisting children who have been affected by the scourges of wars and conflicts in collaboration with other non-governmental organizations, community based organizations and the UN agencies.

Using peaceful means (Dialogue) in solving conflict situations that affect the lives of children.

To assist children in participating in the policy making and implementing policies that will better the lives of other children.

Presenting programmes that will prefect cultures to make children responsible in future.

Working with the UN and other international organizations in implementing policies that will respect the rights of children.

THE FIFTH ANNUAL YOUNG GENERAL ASSEMBLY SESSION
Saturday, July 31, (arrival day) through Saturday August 14, (departure day) 2004

Hosted by General Action Against the Violation of Human and Children's Rights in Abuja, Nigeria


This exciting meeting offers participants a balance of productive time in working committees and time to relax and enjoy new friendships with like-minded young people from all over the world. It is set in the heart of western Africa. The meeting has three goals:

1. To write a booklet of project plans that young people can do to implement A World Fit for Children targets;
2. To write a global report assessing the world's situation for Child Participation, child health, education, abuse, and HIV/AIDS in reference to Convention on the Rights of the Child articles, A World Fit for Children goal areas, and the UNICEF Say YES to Children Campaign imperatives; and
3. To revise the Young General Assembly Charter so the organization involving more than 2 and 1 million young people worldwide can operate more effectively in the future.

Delegations to Abjua will consist of no more than 2 people under the age of 18 and one person over 18 per organization.
Young General Assembly Member Organizations will be approved first. If there is room, then other organizations may send delegates. It's easy to join. Young GA Member Organizations pay no dues. Participants are responsible for their own transportation costs to the international airport in Lagos. Transportation will be provided to and from the conference venue.
The conference fee has not been finalized yet, but will not be more than US for the 14 night meeting. The meeting is being hosted by General Action Against the Violation of Human and Children's Rights (GAAVOCHR) under the leadership of its young founder, Temidayo, Israel-Abdulai.
